Apple reportedly started work on a new low-end iPhone-like phone with support for wireless charging technology that will debut in the summer of this year.

The forecast comes from Luke Lin's Digitimes analyst, who believes that the successor to the iPhone SE will have a rear-facing glass lid, similar to the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

The Taiwanese DigiTimes website has a history of real-time reporting and times not related to Apple's upcoming products.

However, the website resources have been steady in the past. According to DigiTimes, the iPhone 2 is expected to preserve the 4-inch screen of the predecessor.

The first iPhone SE 2 speculations began in August last year where it reported that the upcoming iPhone SE would have the Apple A10 Fusion processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB or 128GB of internal memory and 1,700 mAh battery.

Ever since it debuted in March 2016, very few things have changed with the iPhone SE without any major refresh, in addition to increasing memory capacity in March 2017.
