Nokia introduced a new silicon chip for 5G networks promising increased data capacity for mobile towers in urban areas where traffic is high.

The Finnish company and number 2 in the world after Huawei in the field of telecommunications and networks said that the new chips will arrive in the third quarter of the year.

Called ReefShark, Nokia said new chiplets triple the capacity at 84 gigabits per second from 28 gigabytes that is with existing modules.

These modules can be combined to transfer up to 6 terabits per second.

Nokia said it is working with 30 operators to implement new products in their wireless towers.

Chips support Massive MIMO technology and prepare the world for 5G networks.

South Korea, Japan and the United States have begun preparations for the 5G that will debut in 2018 or 2019.

Also, the European Union will implement 5G in all urban areas by 2025.
